Professor Bakr Rabie is a professor that led a passionate and creative career in teaching clinical orthodontics. His focus is in BOTH clinical research and basic science research with a clinical end to it, and has successfully graduated outstanding clinicians that practice orthodontics across the world. After leading an outstanding teaching and clinical career in orthodontics, his goal is to globalize orthodontics. Being socially responsible, Professor Rabie observed, over the years in his capacity as the expert witness in litigation against general dentists performing poor orthodontics, that the patient pays the price for a fundamental fault in not teaching orthodontics in dental schools at the undergraduate level
[Litigation in Australia as high as 37%]. He was driven to remedy this fundamental fault. In his zeal to protect the public, as well as the dentist, he sought to globalize orthodontic learning.

So, to protect the public, it becomes critical to raise the standard of general dentists when it comes to practicing orthodontics by making orthodontic learning and clinical supervision readily available. As a
fact, general dentists carry out orthodontic treatment in order to grow their practice and increase their income. However, that comes at heavy price that might end up in litigation or losing their license to

Why is raising the standard so important? Not only does the public deserve the highest standard there is, but we can ultimately turn a patient/case from being potential litigation to being an ambassador to
the clinical practice. Because who builds the dental practice? The patients. The patients become an ambassador to the practice and subsequently refers more patients to grow the practice. Professor’s goals are then binary, in that it creates the ultimate clinician, who provides ultimate service to the patients, who in turn builds the practice. his career, he was and still is at the cutting edge of the progress of this professional specialty in that he bridged the gap between the research lab and the clinical practice. This ultimately led to the development and perfection of unique treatment planning and treatment protocols, illustrated with a proven record of graduating hundreds of outstanding clinicians practicing successfully around world.

Professor Rabie is world renowned in the field of Orthodontics. He was the Professor of Orthodontics at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) for 19 years. He was the director of the Postgraduate Orthodontics Program at HKU. He was chairman of the Faculty Board of Orthodontics at HKU. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Edinburgh and Fellow of the World Federation of Orthodontics. He was the founder and convener of the biotechnology and research lab at the Faculty of Dentistry at HKU. He is the founder of Professor Rabie’s Institute of Graduate Orthodontics, who currently has 11 Masters students and has graduated several others. He has 30+ years of clinical, research and teaching experience.

In research, his impact factor and number of citations, being in the thousands, are one of the highest in the field, ranking him as one of the most influential orthodontists within the orthodontics community
worldwide. Top journals regularly invite Professor Rabie to publish. He has received the BEST research published worldwide TWICE, a feat that makes him one of the greatest of all time. His research created orthodontic techniques and protocols that dentists and orthodontists in the world are following today.

Clinically, Professor Rabie has 30+ years of clinical experience treating thousands of patients as well as teaching and supervising many now-successful orthodontists and general dentists. In his days as the Director of the Postgraduate Orthodontics program at HKU, he had received all the awards from the Best Teacher Award, Best Research Award to Best Ph.D supervisor award. From his experience, Professor Rabie has perfected treatment planning and protocols in treatment mechanics and techniques to what we know now as the Rabie Orthodontics/Mechanics/Technique.
